Old Oak Common is strategically placed such that it can become a transport hub and key interchange between High Speed 2 and Crossrail. This project addresses the need to provide safe and secure interchange and connectivity between the new and existing transport infrastructure.

Week 1:

After the briefing, Group 12 started to collect data to understand the site constraints and opportunities. As part of our further research, a site visit was organised to allow the team to experience the problems of the site and observe both advantages and disadvantages of different routes. A model was produced to estimate the flows in the area and further investigate which corridors should be designed for.

Week 2:

After a very constructive Critical Assessment meeting, the team was ready to choose the key corridors to be designed. With the establishment of a gravity model to estimate flows for three years (2014, 2026 & 2040), a report was produced with our recommendations. The team then started designing the corridors, using case studies like Wembley and the London 2012 Olympics.
